Mechanism of Action
The chondroitin sulfate in Algonot Plus blocks mast cell activation, then the quercetin inhibits secretion of inflammatory molecules. The olive seed oil in Algonot Plus increases absorption of the chondroitin sulfate and also contains protective anti-oxidants.

Research
  • A study in the British journal Lancet, showed that glucosamine preserves cartilage and chondroitin sulfate has a potentially therapeutic benefit for patients with osteoarthritis. (link to article citation)

  • A clinical study funded by the National Institutes of Health (RFA OD-98-003) is underway to assess the effects of glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin sulfate.

  • A British Journal of Pharmacology manuscript concluded that chondroitin sulfate and to a lesser extent, glucosamine sulfate was able to inhibit the activation of mast cells.(Link to article citation)

  • A study in Pharmacological Review shows that chondroitin and flavonoids inhibit cells synergistically.(Link to article citation)
