Since My diagnosis of I.C. 2 months ago, I have been on Elmiron and ProstaQ. However, my symptoms seem worse now than before my bladder distention procedure. Am I not giving these treatments enough time?

These two formulations could induce GI upset, and some patients report worsening of symptoms.

Elmiron has to be taken for about 4 months to work in 20-30% of patients. Data for CystQ is not available and it is difficult to know if there are any drug-drug interactions as the formula of CystaQ is proprietary.

However, the worsening of the symptoms could be due to many factors, such as stress, foods, infections, etc. and those would have to be addressed before one worries about the medications
